I think this is the best version of Breathe of all I’ve heard. Adam Clayton’s bass is spectacular.
I really wish that during the talking lines of this song they would use one of those vocal distortion thingys, would make it sound cool for live versions.

music is so subjective….i liked all the albums, but prefer htdaab over atuclb if i have to choose…it’s all great tho….but i still maintain Breathe and Magnificent are two of the best songs they’ve ever made

wow, i couldn’t disagree more — this song and Magnificent are two of the best songs they’ve ever put out…..no doubt about that. Maybe you’re just like lots of others who want them to be exactly the same as 20 yrs ago….things change pal – and for them, for the better.

now that i’ve heard the album , I really have no hesitation in saying this is my favorite song on it. there are a few great songs, but my initial impression is that it isn’t as strong as Atomic Bomb.
just my opinion.
i will say though that Bono’s stage performance may be better than ever….he can’t just rely on his late 20something appearance, so he uses his charisma and maturity to own the stage more.
No. I never said that. What I’m saying is that the verse doesn’t push or punch the melody, while the chorus carries the melody perfectly because it’s supposed to be light and atmospheric. It’s a good song, I love it, I just think it would be better that way.

I would define a true fan as someone who has watched them from the very beginning, collected every song whether vinyl or now digital & has seen the good things they do for this ugly world we live in. Sometimes people get too enamored with the members of the band they haven’t a clue when it comes to the messages being sang. Understanding the messages means understanding & appreciating U2 for who they are, not what they are (Rock Stars, Millionaires etc). This of course, is just my take.. Cheers!

aca desde argentina, cordoba. mas exactamente donde aun un par de locos escuchan u2..este tema es buenisimo, en la letra, lo rockero y el sentimeinti, el megasolo de the edge se va a la bosta!!!! el album es raro, como q aun tratan de experimentar otro sonido..pero es bueno…disfrutemos de u2 q sabemos bien q no son eternos, ojala los pueda ver si viene a argentina, incluso asi con la voz ya vieja bono me canta al alma e igual the edge…larry y adam una masa..adam el mas drogon de todos..jajaj
This is arguably the best song on the new album! I love the lyrics and the chords, especially the last verse. This performance is great, although Bono changes up the lyrics slightly in the first bridge and doesn’t have the same intonation as he does on the record, of which I think is the better version. I am going to see them live in September and I cannot wait until they play this song! I am a U2 fan for life!
