U2 upload #6, after an even longer break! Part of my ongoing effort to perfect the sounds and playing of these songs for my fledgling U2 tribute band You-Two. Played entirely live, so there might be a few glitches where I screw up or whatever. Whatever – I’m not The Edge! Gear used: 98 US Strat with Callaham ‘S’ Cryo Pickup Assembly (Custom Wound Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot pickups) – MXR Dynacomp CSP-028 ’76 Script Reissue – Dirk Hendrik SDD3000 PreAmp – Line 6 M13 – Fractal Audio Axe-FX Ultra (Dual Delays, Boost, AC30 sim) – Cubase SX. Please comment or rate – I’d love to have some constructive comments or answer any questions. BT with vocals from Slane Castle (thanks, Am).

you nailed it; yes many like alittle more warm overdriven tone, but your tone is great, always that struggle between live and studio sound, delays right on the mark !
Good start but beginning harmonics off, rhythm off. Why are you pausing? Get that whole arm moving up and down with some confidence and cadence and lower your guitar a bit. And bring the picked notes down to frets around the nut using way more open strings to ring out. He fills all over the place with harmonics all over the b string. And the rhythm has some open low and high e in there. Work on the fills. And the solo doesn’t pause it fills on the b string harmonic around 12.
I can be a bit sloppy with timing (ask Bob the bass player in my band!) but I thought they were OK. But what do I know!!!
I call it “feel”!
Settings are:
Dyna Comp / SDD Preamp – on all time
Intro / Solo: Delay 1 – 437, v. short, high modulation. Delay 2 – 456, v.short. Delay 3 – 429, higher feedback & repeats. All in series, plus a FET boost post delays.
Main song: Delay 1 – 456, v.short. Delay 2 – 429, higher feedback &repeats. All in series.
Thanks!
Good job, can you tell me settings you use for song and solo. i see you make a switch, thanx
rocks! just the intro harmonics a bit off tempo. can you post your delay settings? serial/parallel, delay times? great cover, 5 stars!!
THANKS MAN! what a speed!! thanks for sharing your knowlEdge and keep on playing
;)
Excellent – this is one of the best versions I’ve seen on here! Keep up the great work.
good job man! a little more of reverb and distortion would be better but it s already nice!!
Thanks, see above for settings.
Thanks!
I find that more distortion loses definition – I did try a bit more gain but it lacked the ringing highs that I think are essential. Maybe a liitle more…
Same for reverb – in some rehearsal rooms it’s often not a good thing (or too many repeats or a high delay mix) and I guess I just always try to avoid too much of them – had too many “mushy” experiences!
great sound
Great job! Great song!
Thank you!!!
great gear, excellent cover
great sound!!
Sounds really good. What is the finish color of your strat? Thanks.
Excellent playing and a brilliant advert for Cryo Pickups. the clarity of tone produced by cryo treated pickups is astounding spread the good word
I’ve always wanted to be in a U2 tribute band. Have fun. It took me awhile to realize that it wasn’t really them.
Hi, Brilliant.
Is there Modulation on both Delays???
Matt.
